Welcome

This blog is dedicated to all forms of computer mediated communication, social network sites, online/virtual communities, different methods for studying the Internet and the experience of online communication.

My research focuses on the broader social dynamic of psychological phenomena in the social network site MySpace. This has particular concern towards interaction, social influence and group dynamics. MySpace is the largest social network site in the UK and is a growing area of academic interest in terms of community, discourse and identity.

I am always open to discussing the social impact of new technologies. Most recently, I have been driven to understand the impact on education in light of web 2.0 technologies. This has implications for the way we understand knowledge, creativity and communication.

I try to understand the way that people engage with modern technology from a social psychological perspective. I work with a relational ontology of the way that people engage with new spaces and I am continuously looking to re-think the way that we view technology, discourse and organisation.
